Gameplay

Murder had happened. Now you are here, in an old hotel, on the crime scene. However, the intro story is not too relevant for what is going to happen next. Still, that lack of information, that ignorance, is the thing which only adds to the tension.

The Rules

The rules of the game are simple. You move through the maze made of long corridors and collect gems. Monotonous female voice with distinct British accent leads you and explains that those are souls scattered on the floor. To solve the case and get away from there you have to collect all of them. In the upper right corner there is a map, showing your current location and giving estimation on how many gems are left to be collected. Map is mostly not very helpful, because things tend to happen rather fast. Soon you find out that you are not alone. Out of nowhere, suddenly, usually behind your back, a huge monkey appears, dressed like a hotel employee, with long knives in his hands. When you lose your life several times over, you realize that the next time you lay eyes on the monkey the most sound thing to do is run.

About the game

This is just a demo game which is still being developed. Since this is Unity 3D version, file is somewhat bigger than usual and loading takes some time. The author are Glowstick Games and they are still relatively unknown. However, the game is rapidly gaining popularity and it is published on Newgrounds, DarkHorrorGames (http://www.darkhorrorgames.com/play/dark-deception/) and on Steam Greenlight. Carolyn Seymour is responsible for amazing voice acting, and we know her as Myrrah from Gears of War. Besides online version, versions for Android, Mac, PC and iPad are in preparation. The game will be then compatible with Oculus Rift, technology for virtual reality. Horror genre is ideally suitable for VR, and the encounter with an armed monkey in dark hallway would be an interesting experience!
