Dead Lab
Dead Lab
Dead Lab is FPS survival demo game about zombies and it is done on Unity 3D platform. Warning: the file is over 90 MB large and loading could take a while depending on your internet connection speed.
What is it about?

A typical pre-apocalyptic scenario: genetically modified virus, accidental contamination and first unplanned victim. Virus leaves the test tube and starts spreading uncontrollably among humans. The thing those people turn into can no longer be called human.

Our man is called Sam, and he is the only medical worker who had, only by some miracle, survived the contamination. The team of experts, up on the surface platform is expecting Sam to somehow reach the surface through the vent system. The plan is to use Sam's blood to synthesize the vaccine and stop the spread.
Sam is equipped with only a flash light, but it is very important for him to find a rifle too. Most of the game he is moving through very dark spaces interconnected with network of vent pipes. At the end of this demo level Sam will encounter these new bloodthirsty inhabitants of these underground laboratories.

Jumpscares
There are a couple of jumpscares in this game. For example there is one just when you get out of the room and enter the hallway and then turn right towards the locked door, for a moment infected people will be seen through the glass. Very uncomfortable. I'll try to catch this moment and post it on my YouTube channel.
Commands
- 'E' - interact with objects (pick up the phone, collect something)
- 'F' - turn on/off the flash light
- 'shift' - hold it to run
- 'space' bar - press to jump
- 'right mouse' - click and hold to pick up and drag small objects (crates, boxes, etc...)
- 'ctrl' - toggle crouch

Pros and Cons
One of the main problems in this game is that object moving is not working as it should. Each time I want to stack the boxes I have a really hard time doing it. The boxes need to be reordered because that is the only way for you to reach the vent pipes. Another downside is that this is only a demo version and the game is way too short.
The pros are great graphics, loads of realistic details and great voice acting.
About the author
Salokin Games is a small gaming company (2 or 3 members) from Bel Air, Maryland, USA. Since 2010 they have published 4 fps games, including Dead Lab. On their official website I found the information that the authors have no plans to expand the Dead Lab (which is in its demo phase) into the full PC version. To make a game like this it took about 3 months of hard work. Unity 3D and Autodesk’s Maya software were used for implementation.
