You take on a role of a top paranormal investigator with a task to check out allegedly haunted house and collect evidence of supernatural presence. In haunted house games very often the entire task revolves around gathering evidence like photographs, documents or objects like for example voodoo dolls in Secrets Of Mystery House 3 . In this game you should take as many photographs of any kind of ghosts within a given time limit.
About the Author
This is Cartoon Network's game from January 2011. And this is their only scary game if we exclude a couple of Scooby Doo games with ghosts, which are to tell the truth more comical than scary. At the beginning we have a warning for players about the potentially scary contents, but as it turns out it may be a bit over the top (too much).
How to play
Using spacebar you change the game mode: flashlight or night vision camera. To pick up an object or go to the next room you have to click a left click while in flashlight mode. If you are taking pictures of an evidence you have to switch to camera mode and use left mouse click to take a picture. The game has 'ghost meter', similar to what Ghostbusters had, to warn you if there are any ghosts near by, so you have time to prepare.
Moving around the house is based on 'point and click' principle. To open most of the doors and find out what is behind them you will have to find a key. If you think that you can see Casper trough the night vision camera, you are completely wrong. Ghosts are mainly represented as shiny white balls of light glowing in the dark, or as hands coming out of the bed.
The game doesn't last long, only 3 minutes. At the end, your photographs are counted and you get your grade based on them (for example 'amateur investigator').
The game is very professionally made, with great graphics and smooth movement without any glitches. An old house with an old furniture contributes to the scary atmosphere immensely, as well as creepy music theme in the background. Although the game looked like there will be some jumpscares, it turned out those will not happen at all, because these ghosts are not violent at all. Mostly they just stand around and wait to be photographed.
