Slender The Nine Pages
Slender The Nine Pages
This is one of the highest quality and probably the scariest Slender Man story. It is a story about a foul creature which lives in the dark and feeds off peoples fears. It is a creature we know almost nothing about. Everybody who had ever seen it, had died. That is why Slender man is depicted without a face and no eyes. Tall, skinny and pale wraith which is calmly standing in the dark, patiently waiting for its pray. The notes you are collecting are about him because he is the one, the one who 'has no eyes'.
The action was moved from the woods into the underground rooms of some facility, probably an abandoned hospital. So you could be able to differentiate it from other versions, instead of 8 pages, one more is mentioned - so, we have 9 pages.
The space is half lit. Empty rooms, no windows, connected through long, narrow, claustrophobic hallways. A labyrinth of hallways, an occasional door squeak and noise in the distance give impression that you are not alone down here. The task is clear. Collect all 9 messages and you get to keep your life. You go free. All you have is a flashlight in you hand. Its light is unreliable and occasionally will leave you in pitch dark. The steps become louder, your consciousness is fading in and out because his presence is hypnotizing. Slender man has some kind of mental power which intoxicates and paralyzes the victim. What can you do if you come across this creature? There isn't much choice. Turn around and run like hell. If you are lucky, you will be given a second chance. The picture shows how it looks like to come across Slender man.
The game is very tense. Every time you look in front of you or check out a box, drawer or a cupboard you feel as if something or someone is right behind you. A weird feeling that the creature will be right there if you turn around. That exact feeling of hitchcockian uncertainty and constant pressure create an adrenalin addiction which makes the players come back to Slender man again and again.
About the author
Slender 9 pages is one of the highest quality Unity games. Author is Petrzmax. Besides this version which is available online, there is another adapted for PC.
Each time you lose a focus, the game pauses. Pretty convenient. You move in such a way which is classic for first person perspective games - WASD keys in combination with mouse. Click or 'e' key is used to interact, for example to open a cupboard, pull drawers and pick up objects. Shift key is used for something which more resembles a fast walk than running.
